PHP Program

What Our PHP Program Includes

A Full Clinical Day, Built Around Real Structure

A partial hospitalization program in Denver is a level of care that sits between residential treatment and standard outpatient services. It is built for people who need daily clinical support and structured treatment but are stable enough to sleep at home each night. At Denver Recovery Center, this typically means a six-hour treatment day, several days a week, combining group therapy, individual sessions, and psychiatric support into one cohesive schedule.

This service is built for:

● Clients stepping down from detox or residential treatment who still need intensive daily support

● Individuals whose substance use is disrupting daily life but who do not require 24-hour supervision

● People managing co-occurring mental health conditions alongside substance use

● Anyone comparing PHP treatment near Denver who needs more structure than a once-weekly outpatient appointment can offer

Key features of our structured day treatment include individualized treatment planning, daily group and individual therapy, medication management and psychiatric oversight, and coordinated step-down planning as clients progress toward lower levels of care.

How A Day In PHP Actually Works

From Morning Check-In To Evening At Home

Denver Recovery Center’s day treatment program in Denver follows a consistent, predictable schedule so clients know exactly what to expect. Here is how a typical treatment day unfolds:

Because clients return home each evening, this structure gives them the chance to practice what they are learning in real time, in their own environment, with support waiting the next morning.

01

Morning Check-In

Each day begins with a brief clinical check-in to review how the previous evening went, including sleep, cravings, and mood.

02

Group Therapy Sessions

The bulk of the day centers on group therapy, covering relapse prevention, coping skills, and shared recovery experience with peers at a similar stage.

03

Individual Therapy

Clients meet regularly one-on-one with a therapist to work through personal history, goals, and specific clinical needs.

04

Psychiatric And Medical Support

Medication management and psychiatric check-ins are built into the schedule for clients who need ongoing oversight.

05

Discharge Planning And Step-Down Care

As stability builds, treatment plans are adjusted toward step-down care, gradually reducing intensity as clients prepare to transition into an intensive outpatient program or standard outpatient treatment.

No one will answer the phone. Not really a great practice when someone is in need of help.... I have gone through the virtual assistant 5 times now and every time it tries to connect me, I end up back at the virtual assistant. Absolutely pathetic.

The experience was unlike anything I could have imagined. The staff was fantastic and took great care of everything and everyone in the detox and recovery home.

DRC has no business taking on as many clients as they do. They are horribly understaffed and make excuses for why things they promise don’t get done. I’m sure there are worse Rehabs out there but this one is pretty sad. They make mistakes and get offended when you call them out. They don’t have a chef, massages, yoga, or acupuncture like they claim. They have no problem lying to you to get you through those doors and on their client list. Seriously, they are money grubbers with very little mental health care capabilities. If you are dealing with any kind of mental health disorder and substance abuse find somewhere else.

Was at Balsam and Fenton locations in Lakewood. Very unprofessional. Houses needed a lot of work. Therapists were young and vaped during sessions. Their appearances were disheveled as well. Felt pretty much like a prisoner. Would NOT recommend.

They told my husband and I that I could go there just for medical detox. That was untrue, once I was there I was informed that I had to stay for 30 days, or my insurance wouldn’t pay for it. Although they also tell you that you’re welcome to leave any time. Um not really, if you’re paying over $3,000 a day to be there, which they remind you of often. Also, none of the staff even knew how long medical detox was or how that process even worked there, because pure medical detox either isn’t a thing there and they lied, or that particular staff didn’t know what they were doing. Speaking of insurance, Zinnia is in network for my insurance, so we were told we’d be covered. About three weeks into my stay, we discovered that while Zinnia takes Cigna, DRC does not. That was an unwelcome surprise. If you have anything going on legally, don’t expect to have access to your lawyer. I was denied about 75% of the time I needed to speak to my counsel. I was also yelled at about how I had been given special treatment to call them, and that “nothing had changed with my case.” Mind you they have zero idea what was going on because, you know, attorney-client privilege, and the right to legal counsel is allowed whenever per their handbook and official policies. I fainted at one point, hit my head on the kitchen counter, ended up on the hardwood floor, went to the emergency room, and had a concussion. I went back to treatment. (again, because my insurance I was told was in network but wasn’t wouldn’t cover my time there if I left). I figured since they had an on-site nurse, I’d be OK. I wasn’t. The nurse refused to give me Advil for the pain until I talked to medical…. Which would happen “later that week.” To be fair, she didn’t know I had a concussion because literally nothing about this was put in my medical record. My therapist (on his weekly call with my emergency contact) told him I tripped but was fine. He only found out I had a concussion when I told him. When I was leaving, I asked for my medical records there, and they didn’t want to give them to me because they were afraid I would report them to the State Medical Board. I was told to “use them only for good.” I was berated by the staff once in the basement, and told, among other things, that I wasn’t allowed to talk to any of my peers about my recovery. I was only in the basement because I was asking for clarification about medical detox. Don’t expect privacy, also don’t expect that you will be able to speak freely about the issues you encounter there. I was able to read my daily records on multiple occasions, because the staff just left them lying around. I was also able to read Teams messages about me, because the screen was up and right there. Some of the staff are helpful. Most of them are not. They DID help me and a lot of my peers with detox. So that’s good. This is probably an ok place if you encounter literally zero problems. But that’s unlikely.

I’ve been clean for over 7 years but decided to take a mental health break. Once in the house found one of the toilets was clogged and feces all over the place. I suffer from narcolepsy and been taken meds for it for years. They decided not to let me have it and after years of use to make me stop a medication abruptly even with the warning not to. Needless to say it sent me into extreme withdrawal which they again didn’t treat affectively. I tried to stick it out but the withdrawals off a medication I don’t intend to get off for safety reasons was just too much. When talking to my therapist I was told to deal with it or go home. I took the next flight out. As a Recovery Coach who works with multiple people always needing to go to rehab this is one of the last resorts to send them their. Hopefully they will make changes!
FAQ'S

Answers Before You Get Started

Clear answers to common questions about treatment, support, and what to expect next.

A partial hospitalization program is a structured level of daytime addiction and mental health treatment. Clients attend several hours of clinical care most days of the week and return home or to sober housing each evening, rather than staying overnight at a facility.

Our program is generally built around a six-hour treatment day, several days each week. Exact scheduling depends on individual clinical needs and is determined during your initial assessment.

Coverage varies by plan and medical necessity. Many insurance plans do cover partial hospitalization when it is clinically appropriate. Our admissions team can verify your benefits and walk you through any authorization steps before you begin treatment.

PHP is generally appropriate for clients who need more support than standard outpatient care but do not require 24-hour supervision. This often includes people stepping down from residential treatment or managing co-occurring mental health conditions alongside substance use. A clinical assessment determines whether PHP is the right fit for your specific situation.
